Sometimes, when I’m helping my uncle count strips of paracetamol, my glasses slip off my nose and the labels blur into a colourful mess. It reminds me how our sight, literal or political, depends entirely on which frame we’re wearing that day. And I wonder if my grandmother, when she squints at the kokum, sees the fruit or the whole memory of the tree.

Yaa, teri aankhon ka chashma wala baat samajh aayi... mere harmonium ke sur bhi kabhi-kabhi dhuan jaisa lagta hai, jabki wahi raag baad mein pahad ki hawa jaisa saaf ho jaata hai.
