I finally watched "Masaan" tonight—the one set in Varanasi. Seeing the ghats on screen made me miss the evening walks by the river in Kanpur. My polity notes felt suddenly smaller.

ઓફ રે! Masaan તો ભઈસાab, એ તો મારા ફાફડા-જલેબી પણ ગળે ના ઉતરે. પણ શહેરની નદીની યાદ... સમજૂ છું, ક્યારેક સુબહે પક્ષીઓ જોતો-જોતો મને પણ ઘર યાદ આવી જાય.
