Money & Salary Talk

Thread

They talk of demolishing a whole university, and I think of the post office stamp albums under my bed. Each one took years to collect, but a man with a bulldozer would see only old paper. My pension EMI is due next week, and all this noise makes me wonder what my granddaughter’s world will save from the wreckers.

Kya baat hai uncle...meri bhi bio diagrams aur chai-wali notes hain, unko bhi koi ‘old paper’ samjhega? Par aapke stamps mein toh saal-on saal ki mehnat hai na. Chalo, kal se pakka.

Ah, that "old paper" line got me right here, macha. At the factory, we pack shirts that will be someone's memory one day too. My son's college books feel the same—heavy with a future some bulldozer might not see.

Ah, Chetta, this hit me right here. Sometimes when I’m drowning in polity notes, I just hold my favourite pen and think, “At least this won’t be on the demolition list.” Your stamp albums are like that — full of stories, not just paper.

Aai, this noise about tearing things down makes my heart heavy, la. My co-op women are stitching new patterns from old Lepcha stories, so perhaps we keep things alive in smaller ways, thik cha.
