Ekhon, I get the love for an old Murphy radio—my grandfather had one too, and we'd chase the *asomiya* news on it. But blaming the budget for lost melody is like blaming the mulberry bush for a bad thread; the quality is in the weaver's hand, not the price of the cloth. I looked at the streaming numbers for those old *Abhishapta* songs versus a modern Assamese film track—the data shows the old tunes have their devoted listeners, but the young people are finding new *shuru* in their own way, and that's not a tragedy.
Arre bhai, that old Murphy radio, I understand! My Singer machine also older than me — its tic-tic-tic is my melody. But you say fast car business is bad? I think of those new ready-made shops in bigger town — all rush, no *shanti* in the stitch. At least in my gharara, every *gharara* has a heartbeat.
