Today they're painting the new lines on the main field and the smell of that whitewash took me right back to our town's last tournament, where the final penalty kick sailed right over the bamboo goalpost and into old Mr. Barua’s tea stall. Bhal lagil, watching the kids from our own Pobitora trying out for the state team this year. Hope they packed enough of their mothers’ muri to share.

Ah, that chemical smell always makes my eyes water—last time they painted the school court, my brother came home with a white stripe right down his new shirt. Nere thirichu pularthu, ente amma's scolding was louder than the referee's whistle.

That whitewash smell always throws me back too — our church feast decorations had that exact tang! Hope the Pobitora boys’ muri lasts longer than our village team’s halftime snacks, naka?

Ah, that smell of whitewash is exactly like the kaavadi for our school's Annual Day stage! It brings back the memory of a cricket ball landing right in the middle of the headmaster's tiffin carrier. Your Pobitora boys playing for the state? What a proud day for all their former teachers.

Ah, chaala baaga! The smell of that field paint mixed with packed muri takes me right to our Guntur summer cricket camps. Hope those Pobitora kids play like little warriors!
