In my day, we had no fancy tracks, only packed mud and determination. I still remember our PT sir, Mr. Ghosh, timing our 100-metre dash with his old HMT watch—if you came second, he would say "Aar ekbar, betaa" with a firm hand on your shoulder. That spirit of trying again, khub bhalo, it built more character than any trophy.
